Less than 2 weeks until Advent!

Each year I seem to have a habit of putting a lot of thought into Lenten sacrifices in preparation for Easter, but during Advent I fill my time with shopping, baking, final exams ect. Although geared for families, this post has some great ideas for Advent activities to prepare us for Christmas.

Readers and bloggers, what do you do during Advent to prepare for Christ? Any suggestions??

Thanks for the reminder Squinks! I definitely can think of some things I want to do to prepare for Advent. If anyone would like to donate to struggling moms and their babies, the pregnancy center I work at takes donations so you could give them to me and I'll drop them off.

I know some of you knit and you could always knit some booties or pick up any extra baby items. I loved that idea from the blog.

That might sound ridiculous, but I had the idea of helping out at a soup kitchen to feed the hungry and the homeless, like our lord directed us to do.

And by the way, thank you for this blog! It's been a long time since Lifeteen, but I feel that being able to read about how people live the faith everyday is really inspiring me to be a better person, and a better christian. So thank you!

Advent is without a doubt my favorite time of year.

Pro-life service is usually how I prepare for Christmas, and there are a couple of crisis pregnancy centers holding money/baby item drives around LA at the moment.

You ladies are doing a great job on this site and I have linked to you. Please feel free to come and visit me at either of my sites.

I always give something up. This is similar to Lent but instead of focusing on our sinfulness and Christ's sacrifice it focuses us on our longing for Jesus. Every time you want the thing you gave up you are reminded that ultimately you long for Jesus. I like it because it makes me long for Christmas even more, especially when I give up sweets.

Thanks to the book Squinks gave me for my bday we're going to try a couplethings this year (since we'll be gone for the 2nd half of December we won't get to finish some of them).
1. I'm making an advent wreath and on Sundays we'll have a little ceremony where we pray and light the candles.
2. We will try to help food pantries because they get overwhelmed this time of year.
