Who's your favorite saint and why?

Mine is my confirmation namesake: Kateri Tekakwitha, who was a Native American in the state of New York. My dad and I shared an interest for the Native American culture and the First Nations culture in Canada and he was the one who suggested her to me for my confirmation.

Interestingly enough, she's also the patron of people who have lost their parents, which I found to be fitting and a nice, quiet hug from God.

How about you?

Mine is St. Philomena, the "Wonder-Worker" who really found me. My first daughter is named after her, and she really has worked wonders in my life.

Interesting story about your confirmation saint being the patron of those who've lost parents because I didn't realize my confirmation patron is actually the patron of nurses until I was applying to nursing school! Amazing how God knows what we need, before we even need it.

Yeah, I think you told me about that before. I like St. Philomena too. Patron of nurses? I'll have to let my mom know. :)

St. Elizabeth of Hungary, who's my confirmation saint, is the patron of nurses, so you can let your mom know!

My favorite saint is Saint Theresa of Lisieux. She's my baptismal saint, and, growing up, I absorbed her biography. :)

Love St. Joseph. I've always had a hard time connecting to Mary, but always had a fondness for St. Joseph - you never hear anything from him, but he must have been an amazing guy! Also, he's so sweet - whenever I really need/want something, he always comes through, and usually in ways that are better than I dared ask for.

... such as my wonderful husband who also happens to be named Joseph. =)

And I love St. Teresa of Avila, who, by the way, said that Mary loves those who love St. Joseph. Nice, huh?

I don't know why - but my comments always seem to be published a couple times. Then I have to go delete the duplicates. Sorry if it looks odd guys.

St. Walburga is mine. Strong and smart, she was an abbess with a talent for medicine. She's my patron, and she rocks!

By the way, congrats on your new baby!
